Alkor manufactures:

Sapphire is often chosen as an optical substrate when the application requires high mechanical durability and high thermal conductivity, as well as good transmission between UV, Visible, and IR regions. The tradeoff is that Sapphire is one of the most difficult materials to process and to achieve high quality optical specifications. Alkor Technologies offers custom shapes, sizes and coating specifications for our Sapphire lenses.

Sapphire (Al2O3) is used for lenses in 190 nm - 5 µm wavelength range. Sapphire exhibits the unique capability of having a broad transmission range and high optical transmission: from the vacuum ultraviolet to the infrared spectrum. Sapphire is ideal for applications where high power, high pressure, vacuum, or corrosive atmospheres are a consideration.
